DESCRIPTION OF THE ITINERARY
This race is the evolution of the 2016 race with the name “Folaga”. The name comes from the abbreviation of the phrase “Dal FOrte al LAgo di GAvirate” (briefly, “from the mountains to the lake”), but the folaga (coot) is also the aquatic bird who lives near the zones that host the competition. In 2017, this race assigned the title of Italian Champion of Short Trail.
The 2019 path is the same as the 2018 one and will start and finish in Gavirate. The path develops counter-clockwise. After a km of concrete the climb (3 km) starts in the Morselli Park. Once the number 10 path is reached, there is a flat stretch that takes you to the town of Velate. The hard part of the trail starts now: after a refreshment point there are 4 km (S.Francesco climb) of vertical climb.
After arriving at the old funicular station, you will pass the Scala del Cielo and then the Mount Tre Croci. The highest point of the trail is the Punta di Mezzo, after which comes the Forte di Orino. The final part of the race starts now, with a long downhill that takes you back to the lake.
Everyone who owns a competitive medical certificate for resistance sports can participate. The firts five men and women will be awarded.
